Background
West Sumatra, with its high biodiversity wealth, has great potential in the development of NTFPs. In this context, WRI Indonesia is collaborating with i-Hi Consulting to conduct market and value chain research that is expected to provide valuable insights to build a sustainable NTFP-based business ecosystem in West Sumatra. In the end, the research was done to improve the viability of NTFP-based businesses around the province, which almost all of them are forest-dependent communitiess.
Objectives
The main objective of this study is to conduct a comprehensive market analysis and value chain assessment for derivative products of potential NTFPs from West Sumatra. The scope of market research that was carried out by i-Hi Consulting included (1) market analysis, (2) value chain assessment, (3) stakeholder mapping, and (4) policy assessment.
